The emission of toxic gases from pig excrement contributes to environmental contamination and is a direct risk to the health of pig farmers if handled without the necessary biosecurity measures. We present the clinical cases of two patients with altered consciousness requiring ventilatory support and management in an intensive care unit after acute exposure to toxic gases derived from pig excrement on a farm in a rural area. Clinical and paraclinical findings suggestive of hypoxia and pulmonary involvement were identified.
